Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently unveiled its first three events of 2021, which includes the highly-anticipated UFC 257 pay-per-view (PPV) event that will feature the rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. Now, the promotion has unveiled the official poster for “Poirier vs McGregor 2,” which is set to go down on “Fight Island,” located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Jan. 23, 2021.

McGregor v Poirier: What has been said?

McGregor took to Instagram in November to celebrate securing the date with Porier, posting: “I am very grateful to be about to return and get to do what I love again.“I look forward to the fresh test Dustin will bring since our first bout, while also showcasing my own incredibly deep cache of weaponry.“Whatever tool is needed on the night will be pulled from the duffel.”

And McGregor is looking better now than he did before facing Floyd Mayweather, Khabib Nurmagomedov or Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, according to his manager.Audie Attar said: “This is the best Conor I’ve seen ever, and I’ve been with him almost a decade now.“It’s the mental fortitude, the emotional intelligence, the self-awareness, the time he’s spending with his kids in between sessions and what that does to him.

“It’s the reflection of everything that’s happened to us to date – the good, the bad and the ugly – having a level of wherewithal and foresight to understand what we need to do going forward to achieve the goals we have now.“I’ve never seen Conor like this. It’s about the challenge, the competition, being the best version of ourselves. Not just the body, but the mind and the soul as well. And that’s fun for me to see.

“The guy doesn’t have to work a day in his life. He made more money this year not fighting; that’s how good business is. So to see him hungry to compete, hungry to continue to evolve, hungry to prove all the naysayers wrong and hungry to prove who his really is, not only athletically but as a businessman and as a human being, that to me is exciting.

Michelle Waterson forced out of UFC 257 fight against Amanda Ribas on Jan. 23

“Karate Hottie” was in search for her second straight win after getting back on track in her previous bout against Angela Hill at UFC Vegas 10 a few months ago. Prior to the win, Waterson had dropped back-to-back bouts to Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Carla Esparza.

Ribas, on the other hand, has been on a tear since making her Octagon debut back in mid-2019. The Brazilian bomber has won all four of her fights inside the Octagon, including big victories over Mackenzie Dern and Paige VanZant.

McGregor v Poirier: What is the purse?

Former two-weight champion McGregor is the highest-paid fighter in UFC history.

He banked more than £23million for his first-round knockout win over Donald Cerrone in January.

And he’s expected to take home the lion’s share of the purse against Poirier.

The purse for the upcoming bout is not yet known but Mac has vowed to donate a chunk of it to charity.
